➡️ World’s First AI Safety Summit: Let’s Discuss
In case you hadn’t heard yet, the UK just hosted a grand AI summit earlier this week where political and tech leaders across the world came together to internationally collaborate on AI’s promise, as well as its potential perils.🤖
The summit was held at Bletchley Park because of its symbolism as it was one of the birthplaces of modern computing; the machines developed here to decode the Nazis' Enigma Code provided the blueprints for early programmable computers. 🖥️
One of the primary concerns of the summit was to establish global coordination and guidelines around AI safety, which presented itself as The Bletchley Declaration, agreed to by 28 countries present.🌐
The agreement vowed to strive toward "shared agreement and responsibility" about AI concerns, as well as to host a series of future meetings. It is being hailed as a “landmark” achievement because it ensures global support to ethically advance AI and limit its potential dangers as much as possible.✨
While there are no concrete steps laid down as to how this would proceed, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that AI businesses have agreed at the Summit to provide governments with early access to their models in order to conduct safety assessments.🧪
This is a first global step towards ensuring a safer world enabled by AI, and is again a reminder enjoy AI, but mindfully.⭐️
➡️ AI News of the Week: Apple is Investing Heavily in AI
The AI landscape has seen developments and products from nearly all of the tech giants— except Apple.🍎
However, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook just confirmed that Apple is not lagging; they’re investing heavily in AI to develop “responsibly” and plan on unveiling some of these features soon next year.👀
He said, "In terms of generative AI, obviously, we have work going on. I’m not going to get into details about what it is, because as you know, we really don’t do that. But you can bet that we’re investing. We’re investing quite a bit. We’re going to do it responsibly, and it will. You will see product advancements over time where those technologies are at the heart of them." 🧑💻
🚀Entrepreneurship
I work with a lot of young people: college students, freshers, recently graduated and doing their first jobs. 💼
There’s one thing that I have observed:
A lot of these young people shy away from asking for money.💰️
Their thoughts are along the lines of
I’m just in college
I don’t know anything yet
I just graduated—
Should I be asking for money? 🤔
Hell yes, you should be asking for money. Because you deserve that money.
You NEED to develop the mindset that “I will not do anything for free.” I might get paid less today because I don’t add that value, but I need to get paid because that is where the value system becomes equal.⚖️
Anytime someone tells me “Hey, I think I deserve this much” and credibly backs up their appeal when I ask, “Why?“, I’m more than happy to take it up.💲
So I really do believe that good founders and good companies appreciate when people ask to be compensated fairly.
GO, ask for that money!💵
