Festive greetings🎉
2024 WILL be the year for mass AI adoption. It might be safe to say that it might become almost impossible to imagine your life without some daily AI application.🤖
Let’s dive in🚀
💻️AI
➡️ AI in 2024: Get Ready
If 2023 was the year of speed in AI innovation, 2024 will witness it being everywhere, especially in scientific innovation and everyday routine tasks.
Get ready for AI in almost everything and everywhere.✨
Bill Gates writes a letter each year where he reflects on the year that has passed and what the next one has in store for us.
This year, he talked about AI and how it stands to revolutionise the world his granddaughter and the rest of her generation will inherit🌏️
We are just at the beginning of this transition right now. This is an exciting and confusing time, and if you haven’t figured out how to make the best use of AI yet, you are not alone.
…In a world with limited resources, you have to find ways to maximise impact. Innovation is the key to getting the most out of every dollar spent. And artificial intelligence is about to accelerate the rate of new discoveries at a pace we’ve never seen before.
Bill Gates, The road ahead reaches a turning point in 2024
Here are the broader expectations you can keep from the next year:
AGI Might Just Get Real
For the uninitiated, AGI stands for Artificial General Intelligence that is basically the research to create a product that mimics human-like intelligence and has the ability to self-teach.💻️
No, ChatGPT is not an example of AGI; it is extremely powerful but it is not designed to imitate human intelligence, instead provide specific functionality using Natural Language Processing. ⌨️
But most tech organisations are already working towards achieving AGI models. OpenAI has a rumoured ongoing Project Q* that is part of their pursuit of AGI.
A lot of people in tech have inhibitions about AGI, and rightfully so. It is IMPERATIVE that AGI is approached with the as much caution and care as possible.🦺
Wearable AI Will Get Super Exciting
Remember Humane AI?
That may be just the beginning.💡
The wearable technology space will witness super-exciting developments in 2024. There will be innovation beyond smartwatches and wrist-worn devices, and companies like Microsoft, OpenAI, Apple and Meta are already moving towards it.⌚️
Meta's Ray-Ban Smart Glasses just went multimodal, as did Amazon's Echo frames, which were updated this year. This change represents a significant shift in how we engage with technology, and making AI a fundamental component of our daily visual experience will be a big goal in 2024.🥽
Next Wave of Generative AI
We’e already witnessing this with Google Gemini and GPT-4, but the next generation of generative AI will progress beyond simple chatbots and quirky meme generators.🤖
Multi-modal generative AI systems are a crucial innovation in this domain. They will hopefully become capable of weaving complex storylines, choreographing musical symphonies, and maybe even collaborating for writing novels.📚️
Generative AI will also become more mainstream and even more accessible to the internet population.🧑🤝🧑
Gartner says that more than 80% of enterprises will have used generative AI APIs or deployed generative AI-enabled applications by 2026. 🤯
GenAI is one use-case of AI that makes AI more accessible; there is barely an entry-barrier to using the technology. This will only get better in 2024.📈
Beyond AI trends, we will also witness a lot of AI integration in the education, health and scientific sector. Gates in his letter expressed his staunch belief in AI and its capabilities to expedite innovation, especially crucial innovation that directly impacts lives.🌟
I hope 2024 will be a year towards ethical AI approaches that alleviate pains.
I hope you’re excited.
I am too.
Have a great Christmas weekend folks, I’ll see you next week with closing thoughts for this year.🎅
