🤖 Google’s Gemini 1.5: Most Powerful AI Model Yet?
Welcome back and happy Friday!👋
Gone are Google’s days playing catch-up in the AI race.
It now stands to rival, if not outperform, OpenAI’s GPT. 👀
Earlier in February Google rolled out their AI model Gemini 1.0 Ultra to improve Google’s AI experience, but the netizens had mixed reactions to it.🤐

That being said, all stands to change with its recent announcement of the Gemini 1.5, a significantly improved version of their flagship language model.
So What’s New in Gemini 1.5?
⚡️ Gemini 1.5 brings some prominent changes to the flagship model:
Faster Response through MoE: Gemini 1.5 will likely have the Mixture of Experts MoE architecture that likely powers GPT-4. This allows the model to split down a query into subtasks and assign them to specialised "experts," significantly increasing efficiency and performance.
Performance Breakthrough: Gemini 1.5 Pro, the mid-tier version, allegedly competes with top-tier Gemini 1.0 Ultra. That's a significant performance boost in a very short period of time.
"Needle-in-a-Haystack" Information Retrieval: Gemini 1.5 has a significantly improved ability to identify precise details within massive amounts of text, video, or audio data.
And this is a great segue to tell you the MOST shocking update Gemini 1.5 brings:
One Million Token Context Window: Gemini 1.5 can now process exceptionally long text passages of up to one million characters in order to understand context and meaning.🤯
For context, this BEATS AI systems like GPT-4 Turbo and Claude 2.1, which maxed out at 128,000 and 200,000 and tokens, respectively.
One million tokens means Gemini 1.5 can handle:
1 hour video
11 hours audio
More than 30K lines of codes
More than 700K words
So…Should You Switch? 🤔
On paper, keeping all credentials in mind, Gemini 1.5 is clearly worth upgrading.
Gemini 1.0 suffered from issues, making the switch for users with existing subscription to ChatGPT Plus pointless.
However, given everything we just discussed, I do think Gemini Advanced looks really promising.
Will it stand up to real-world use? I do not know yet. But if the promises live up to the delivery, it is definitely worth consideration.
