➡️ Generative AI in Online Search🔍️
Have you ever wished that searching online could be as simple as asking a question to a friend?
Instead of giving you a long list of websites to look through, imagine if search engines could understand your question and give you a direct answer. 🗒️
Well, AI is being used to make our online search experience easier. Tech giants are working on finding ways to make search engines answer user questions and not just list numerous web pages.
The intent is to make it more natural and intuitive; you would no longer have to sit through information and piece things together. 💡
Back in May, Microsoft announced Bing with an AI bot, that responds directly to user queries instead of showing a pageful of links. ChatGPT with its browsing plug-in offers a similar experience.
But the company that's really making waves is Google. In May, Google had announced its Search Generative Experience (SGE) as a limited trial opt-in feature in the US. ⌨️
SGE basically uses generative AI’s ability to summarise large amounts of data to give you a quick gist of the topic searched, also allowing easy follow-ups!
And recently, things have gotten more interesting👇️
➡️ AI News of the Week: Google’s SGE adds SGE While Browsing
Google has now released a number of sub-features for Google Search Generative experience, the biggest of which is SGE While Browsing.🔍️
SGE while browsing allows users to open a special Google Search side panel while browsing a webpage, and a special SGE model will enlist the key points of the webpage. ✍️ One can also click on “Generate” in the panel to generate a custom summary of the webpage.
Exciting things are in store for online search. If you wish to know more, hop on to Google’s website blog!
➡️AI Tool of the Week: Air.ai
Air.ai is the world’s first conversational AI that is capable of having full-length phone calls while sounding like a real human.👤
It claims to have “infinite memory, perfect recall, and can autonomously take actions across 5,000 plus applications.” You HAVE to listen to the demo on their website to understand just how real and natural it sounds.🤯
Air AI eliminates the need for extensive training, motivation and management while offering unmatched efficiency. It really is an AI tool for the future.💫
🚀Entrepreneurship
I talked about remote teams and communication in the last edition.
Today, I want to talk about work delegation.
Founders are passionate people; they want to do everything right, and so they want to do everything :)
I understand that the first few months/years are tough and you really have to step up and become everything your startup needs.
But once you find yourself in a position where you can shell some cash to bring some system in place, do it.
The formula to scale your startup is to outsource things that do not require your constant attention. ⭐️
Bring in people who share your vision, communicate clearly and learn to trust them with responsibilities.
It gives you, as a founder, time back to tackle other challenges.
Delegation is the cornerstone of effective leadership for founders. And you already know what they say:
Team work makes the dream work. 🚀
👔 Leadership Lifestyle
Today we have some words of advice from Dave Salvant, co-founder and President at Squire. Squire Technologies is a Y-Combinator backed leading tech startup enhancing the barbershop experience for both barbers and customers.💇🏽♂️
In 2016, Dave started Squire as a way for people to book and pay for barbershop visits on their cell phones. It has since evolved into an all-inclusive platform used by barbers, barbershop owners, and people looking for a barber.
In June 2023, Squire surpassed 1 billion USD in payments processed.💰️
Dave is a great example of a self-made leader. Neither he nor his co-Founder are engineers, and they became successful with a fintech product.
This is what Dave had to say to people from non-technical backgrounds like himself in an interview with Afrotech back in 2018:
That’s all for this week, have a great weekend!
